Doncaster has previously assembled International Harvester and Case products before being taken over by McCormick. Earlier this year it was announced that the factory would be closed and production would be moved to Argo's assembly plant in Italy. To mark the closure of the plant it was decided to produce a one-off Special Edition CX tractor which would display the British flag and would be auctioned with the assistance of Classic Tractor Magazine. The auction lasted for 3 months and on November 6th the final bid was registered online with seconds to spare. The auction was won by My Stephen Haylock, a customer of R.C.Boreham & Co. Mr Haylock paid £31,700 for this historic tractor. McCormick will be donating £10,700 of this to charity. Mr Haylock was very keen to purchase this tractor from the first day he heard of the auction and was a keen bidder from the start. The CX will now go into his collection of historic and vintage tractors, which also includes one of the 60 Limited Edition McCORMICK CX105 DIAMOND which he purchased in 2006. The Doncaster plant holds fond memories for Mr Haylock as he carried out his apprenticeship working on Doncaster produced International Harvester Tractors. On the 29th November 2007 Mr Haylock visited the McCormick Tractor plant in Doncaster to be presented with his Tractor.
